Biography/Resume: Dr. Bargerstock has an extensive and prestigious performance career including radio, television and recordings. She has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as well as concertized throughout Europe and Asia.   She was violinist for fifteen seasons with Alexander Schneider and the Brandenburg Ensemble, one of the most prestigious and well-known international ensembles.   Additionally she has appeared in many chamber festivals worldwide and was founder and violinist of the Van Arnum (Lehigh University) and the Deree Piano Trios (American College of Greece.)

Dr. Bargerstock studied violin with such prominent teachers as Ivan Galamian, Sally Thomas, Joseph Gingold, Felix Galimir, and Jascha Brodsky.   She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, a Soloist Diploma in Viola from the Orfeo Conservatory of Music in Athens, Greece and her D.M.A. in performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Prior to coming to Appalachian State University in 1999, Dr. Bargerstock resided and worked in Athens, Greece, where she was Artist in Residence and Professor of Music at the American College of Greece and Assistant Concertmaster of the Athens State Orchestra.   Dr. Bargerstock is Coordinator of Strings at the Hayes School of Music, teaches applied violin, string pedagogy, and heads the string chamber music program.   She performs regularly in faculty recitals and University ensembles both on campus and throughout the state.   One of her future projects involves recording Serge Prokofiev's two violin sonatas with colleague, Dr. Bair Shagdaron.


Ensembles/Responsibilities: Dr. Bargerstock serves as coordinator of string area students and faculty and teaches applied violin and pedagogy.  She also oversees the student string chamber ensembles.  Dr. Bargerstock gives annual solo recitals and solo performances with university ensembles and on faculty recitals throughout the academic year.
