As a comprehensive music camp, Cannon Music Camp offers
more than just ensembles and private lessons. We also offer classes
that will help you become a more complete and well-rounded musician.
MUSIC THEORY
We offer several levels of music theory. From the
results of the theory placement assessment taken on the first evening
of camp, all campers will be placed into a level that meets them where
they are (musically speaking) and helps them grow into a deeper understanding
of how music is put together. These classes meet Monday through Friday.
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
Alexander Technique is an internationally recognized method designed to increase performance ability through the discovery of ways which may relieve performance anxiety. This class is taught by Ms. Jane Comfort Brown, a certified Alexander Technique teacher. Several sections of this class are offered, with each camper participating in one class per week.
In order to reserve a place in this class, send the form
for requesting it, along with the class fee of $110 (made payable to Jane
Comfort Brown), to the camp office prior to the beginning of camp.

JAZZ/RHYTHM IMPROVISATION
For those participating in one of our jazz ensembles,
we offer opportunities to explore improvisation in a separate class.
Usually divided between wind and rhythm section players, these classes
are structured to help both beginners and more advanced students.
These classes meet Monday through Friday.
PIANO CLASS
Every musician should have some piano skills. We
offer piano class so that those with no prior keyboard experience can start
to acquire fundamental techniques. We offer several sections of piano
class, with each section meeting twice a week. The fee for this class
is $25 and includes all materials needed. You may sign up and pay
for this class at registration.
VOICE CLASS
Voice class is open to all students studying voice privately
at CMC. The class meets Monday through Friday, with each week of
the class being taught by a different member of the Hayes School of Music
voice faculty. Past class topics have included vocal health, repertoire,
diction, and dramatic interpretation.
